Proceeds Support High School Missions Trip

By Loni Rahm

Graham Monteleone, Associate Pastor at Real Life Lake Chelan, has one word to describe the overwhelming array of donations they’ve received for this year’s Yard Sale: “Incredible”.

Originally, I had planned to use this article to encourage community members to donate their gently used items to what has become Chelan’s Biggest Yard Sale, but Monteleone begged me not to.  “Our storage unit is so full, I can’t fit any more in,” he said.

Instead, he would like to encourage people to show their support by shopping during the two day event. “There will be really good deals, and you’ll be supporting a good cause,” said Monteleone.

The good cause is an upcoming missions trip to Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. All proceeds from the yard sale will be used to help send 23 Chelan and Manson teenagers and 11 adult volunteers, on a 9-day mission trip to this area on the south side of the island which was devastated by Hurricane Maria.

Monteleone indicated this is the 5th annual Real Life mission trip and the 2nd time in Puerto Rico. He stated that the community they will be serving still has no power after more than 6 months. Their chapel still has no roof after the Hurricane Maria tore it off. The team will spend June 15-23 assisting in clean up and re-construction efforts.
