Lady Trojans Can’t Stop Waterville’s Blistering Bats

Submitted by Eric Sivertson, Manson High School Athletic Director

The Lady Trojan softball team travelled to Waterville on Thursday, for Manson’s second game of the season and came up short with a final score of 4-27.

Although it doesn’t reflect so in the score – the Trojans celebrated several of their own successes including 12 stolen bases and some great defensive plays.

Scoring runs for the Trojans were Veronica Lulo, Melanie Marin, Salena Joiner and Libbey Ireland.

Melanie Marin racked up the only Trojan hit on the day and Salena had the only RBI.

Defensively, Melanie Marin fielded a ground ball for a solo play at first and Mara Vargas had two great plays at the plate from a 3rd strike dropped ball tag out and a hustle play for an out off a passed ball. Libbey Ireland also had a deep infield catch.

The Trojans will play their next game – a double header in Tonasket – on Saturday, March 31st.
