Congratulations to Nominees and Winners for Sportsmanship Excellence

Information submitted by Rob Rainville, CHS Athletic Director

Each week, Coaches nominate Student-Athletes in their programs that excel in their sport that week. Those Nominees are then voted on by the Principals at both schools.

We would like to recognize ALL our Student-Athletes for their efforts and appreciate them representing the Lake Chelan School District wearing the “Chelan” uniform. Each Student-Athlete of the week winner will receive a “Gift Card” from Lake View Drive-In. Thank you to Michael and Jamie Mack and the Lake View Drive- In for their support of Chelan Athletics and the Lake Chelan School District.

This Week’s Student Athletes:

Mia Bordner- Softball

Mia has a positive, can-do attitude 100% of the time. This week in a double header with Granger, one of their players got badly injured and so it was decided that we would share a player from Chelan with Granger for game 2. Mia stepped in with that positive attitude and immediately made friends with the team, coaches included. They cheered her on as if she had been playing with them all season and as if they had known her for years. Mia does whatever she is asked with all of her effort and with a mindset of working hard to improve. She’s extremely coachable, consistently kind and supportive of teammates, and makes any team she is part of a better team to be on. — Coach Slagle

Erik Cardenas-Soccer

Erik has been a silent leader this week. He has stepped up to the plate to deliver- without words, but with plenty of action. Erik leads by example. His hard work at practice and his dedication to helping his team, has lead the Goats into the post-season again. He scored the go ahead goal in our CTL title match to help secure the 6th league title in 8 years. He never complains and he always has just a faint grin and a look of true integrity. We thank you for all you do sir and keep being YOU! Game On — Coach Richards

Congratulations to Mia and Erik and Great Job to all Nominees:

Elly won two events at the BCS Invite, competing against schools from the west side. She won the Pole Vault and 300 Low Hurdles. She PR in the vault, clearing 10 feet 6 inches. She also ran a personal best time of 47.81 seconds. She was also part of the 4×100 meter team that placed first… She ran the 2nd leg and helped our team get a quality time of 51.95 seconds beating the next closest team by nearly 3 seconds. She was also part of the 4×200 team that placed 2nd and ran a good time of 1:50.29. With all of the Girls Performances, they were able to place 2nd overall with 87 team points. Elly was helpful, along with the rest of our girls team, scoring some big team points. — Coach Romero

Gage Estes- Baseball

Gage Estes’s leadership, positive attitude, and overall pleasant demeanor is an invaluable asset to our team. His defense at shortstop has been steady all season long. Gage has contributed many clutch performances throughout this gratifying season. – Coach Papasedero

David Chavez- Golf

David has a great attitude and the excitement he shows is contagious for our whole team. He truly works to get better. David is very coachable, and he is a player that everyone enjoys being around. The coaches and the team celebrate his improvements, and he is getting better each week. – (He also made that classic life discovery when he played with the girls and realized that “women are complicated” 😊). — Coach Einspahr
