CHS Traveled to Quincy on Thursday

Chelan golfers continued their improvement today at Quincy’s Colockum Ridge Golf Course.

Medalist for the boys, shooting a hot 2-over par 73 went to Quincy’s Trajan Trevino, followed closely by Chelan’s Corbin Morley with a 77, Miles Grossberg with a 78, and Seth Hannu with an 82. Chelan’s boys took the team honors by 8 strokes with a 337 to Quincy’s 345.

Quincy’s Stacia Sarty took medalist honors for the girls with a 91, but Chelan’s girls took team honors as Quincy did not have enough varsity girls scores for a team score.

Overall, Chelan golfers continue to make vast improvements, both girls and boys, each time they go out.

After our top 3 boys, the next three came in today at 100 (JD Gonzalez in his first varsity match, 21 strokes better than his score on Tuesday), 101 (Jeremy Avery, 26 strokes better than Tuesday), and 102 (Ainsley Pehrson, 13 stroke improvement). For the girls, Emily Christenson shot a 105 (4 stroke improvement from Tuesday), Kaylin Boykin 107 (7 stroke improvement), Andrea Villa 114 (13 stroke improvement), and Katie Rainville 121 (12 stroke improvement).

It’s very exciting to see these kinds of improvements and I hope that our golfers are all encouraged by the progress they are each making (with the JV golfers making the same kinds of improvements as well).

Chelan will be taking the next week off from matches during our Easter/spring break, and return to action with two home league matches on April 10 and 12.

First League Match was Held on Tuesday

Chelan hosted Omak on Tuesday (3/27) for the first league match of the season. The weather turned out great for March, and the predicted winds stayed fairly calm with just a few breezes throughout the match.

Co-Medalists: Chelan’s Grossberg and Morley

With very little “course time” under their belts, Chelan’s boys turned in some great scores for this early season match.

Leading the way with honors were co-medalists Miles Grossberg (Chelan, freshman – Pictured at the top of the story) with a 48-38 for an 86. Also with an 86 was Corbin Morley (Chelan, senior) with a 47-39.

The team score for the boys was 386. (Omak did not have enough boys for a team score).

Chelan’s Christenson earns Medalist Honors

Chelan senior Emily Christenson took medalist honors with a 53-56 for 109. She continues to improve each time out.

Overall, the Chelan girls struggled a bit, but nothing unexpected for this early in the season.  The team score was 483 (Omak did not post a girls’ team score).

Thursday (3/29) takes us to a non league matchup with Quincy on their home course, Colockum Ridge Golf Course, then we will take a break from the action during Easter/Spring Break.
